Frequently Asked Questions

Yes.

Electric vehicles, cars in particular, are 100% greener (have a lower carbon footprint) than combustion engine vehicles. The batteries used in EVs make the manufacture less environmentally friendly than the production of fuel vehicles, however, over the lifetime of both vehicles, there is less than a third of the emissions from an EV than that of a fuel car.

So you need to charge?

The best way is to download our app. Or, if apps aren’t for you – simply search us on Google, or use Zap Map and find our nearest charging point for your electric vehicle charger. Whilst our app makes it really easy to charge – we do have options to use and pay without using our app.

It will depend on how low your battery is and how much further your destination is.

Usually, it takes around 15-20 minutes to charge your car sufficiently to complete your journey. At any of our rapid chargers, it can take 30-40 minutes to fully charge your EV from almost empty. This may vary depending on the capacity of your battery or vehicle range. Read more about how long it takes to charge or read our short guide on how to use EVs.

The cost to charge will vary.

We know, this isn’t the answer you were looking for. However, if it’s any consolation, we regularly check the prices at other charging points and aim to beat them per kWh. The average spend at most EV points is a 25kW charge at £0.70 per kW, which is roughly £18. Giga Power UK’s current tariff is displayed at the bottom of our website and on most charging points.
